May Newsletter- Bathing Suits Don’t Lie

Memorial Day is around the corner and soon enough weekends for many New Yorkers will involve heading out of town. Weekends away offer a chance to read and relax, perhaps fit in a workout or 2, and BATHING SUITS. While we can all hide in winter clothes under sweaters, scarves and coats, there’s no hiding in a swim suit. And men aren’t immune to this. Plenty of male clients want to slim in the middle before a beach vacation. We’re all in this together. We gathered the best advice for maximizing your beach body potential.

Shed the Pareo Eating Tips

Thanks to Malia Mills and Roberta Freyman, we have fab beach cover up collections, but since you can’t swim in your cover up, it eventually needs to come off so:
Eliminate packaged food with more than 2 ingredients from your diet 2 weeks B.B. (before the beach).
Add green-tea based drinks such as E-Boost, Yogi’s detox tea and coconut water (1/day of each) to the 8-10 cups of plain filtered water you are already consuming.
1 week B.B. skip the 3 C’s (carbonated beverages, carbs and cocktails).

Foodtrainers’ Lisa Ganguzza advises “try to focus your excitement on what you should be eating to get to where you want to be, rather than what you should not eat”

“Crunch Time” Workouts

We asked all-star trainer Genevieve Morrit, the key pre-beach exercises and she said: “Planks and push-ups, are the surest ways to stimulate your core. You’ll also strengthen your pectorals (and look great from the front) and the shoulder girdle (my god, you look great sun bathing on your flat belly). Play with time, by either holding your plank, or seeing how many push-ups you can do in 30 seconds.” Do plank and push ups daily.

We have also seen surprisingly good results with clients doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred videos and a series called P90X.

Comfortable In Your Own Skin

Joanna Czech, facialist to the stars and 65 CPW neighbor, suggested Ren salt scrub for exfoliation a week before you self tan. Her go-to self tanner is Lancome which she says “has a fragrance that’s almost pleasant” unlike many others. Joanna also mentioned that self tanners offer no sun protection. We’re just happy for anything that makes us comfortable in our own skin no matter how shallow that makes us.
